Chav accessories can knock hundreds of pounds off the value of a car.

But accessories installed by 'Chavs' - the much-derided new tasteless, poorly-educated underclass - can also reduce a car's value. Such "Chavtomisation", including Burberry-style seat covers, could cost a new owner up to £2,000 to put right, said Network Q.

I don't know but, I reckon it's one thing to have a bit of a laugh about some loony who does a bad bodykit, but what's happening?

'Chav' is not an offensive term, they're just offensive. They have no grounds in race, income, gender or age (though they will always claim to be straight - ever heard of a gay chav?).
They represent garish tastelessness, an embracement of a complete lack of manners or intelligence, the worshipping of money at all costs (hence their glamourisation of criminals, prostitutes, pimps, strippers etc), their obssession with fighting and their own strength (hopefully one of these days their pints of shandy will be knocked over by an unassuming Kung Fu black-belt) and generally the product of dumbing-down in Bliar's Britain.
Of course they like larding stuff onto their cars - not because it looks good or increases performance, but because it signals to other chavs how much money they've got to spend.
And they're the worst thing to happen to England in a long time.

While the article appears to have been written by a gibbon, there is a grain of truth. Not only are "modded" cars harder to shift, but those with chav-like leanings are beginning to drop in price. For several years i've promised myself an old impreza to hoon about in but the more scoobys I see with baseball capped pinheads doing their one armed water skiing impression with the steering wheel the less i want one

Oddly enough, no, although I'd have gone for the scum who tried to kick my door in last year. Probably foolish, but I was in a fit of rage at the time. Luckily they legged it because they couldn't get through the inner door.
I'm a fan of history, particularly the civil war period. One of my favourite "personalities" of the time is Matthew Hopkins, a.k.a: the Witchfinder General.

Yeap I'd avoid a Saxo, 3 series BMW, a Subaru, or a CIVIC too.
I own a Cavalier MK2 SRi. Most people assume I'm a Chav. (I'm a Chartered Engineer so I think None Educated Delinquent, or NED, is not me either).
I'm thinking of 'slamming it' and blacking out the windows for a laugh.
