Should add North of Ledmore the road number is A837. No-one ever comes this far north, but it really is one of the best in Britain. If you''ve got plenty of time take the unclassified turn to Achiltibuie north of Ardmair. The scenery is unbelievable.

After stopping for pies at the Lochinver Larder, head back the way you came in (A837) but take a left (North, even more North!) onto the A894 after 10 miles.
The road from here to Laxford Bridge is as good if not better (fast sweepers, "almost" hairpins and plenty of steep up and downs) and even less traffic.
Coming back, the A838 from Laxford Bridge to Lairg is around 40 miles of single-track with fantastic scenery.
A836 and A9 will take you back to Inverness.
