non standard geometry / alternative springs/shocks

Has anyone played with non standard suspension settings? Any experience with leda/ohlins/avo?

I think a guy in the states, J something, who stuck in a BMW V12 did...

But he lengthened the front A bars, since they are quite short and thus required a fairly high spring rate to keep the camber gain out of the 'OH F£££' zone...

I also think he fitted an anti roll/torsion bar on the front as well, quite a bit of work, but probably worth a shot - if you have the time to play...

you'd also benefit from reducing the strain on the hubs and stuff if you could add a bit more compliance to the system, IIRC, a sport broke a hub mount by just hitting the small curbs on a racetrack... then again it was 7 years old...

i saw the stuff on the failed hub as well. I think, well hope that it is connected to a corrosion issue. As the owner of a 98 sport i think i'll pop mine off for inspection. That car was running slicks wasn't it? Could also have been a one off crap casting.

I think the front set up is very soft anyway. I'm also worried that adding front end stiffeness with higher spring rates or roll bar will add to the understeer. I realy dont thing roll control is a big factor. Its hardly a P6 rover is it?

I do keep an open mind come on guys tell me what works. I'd realy like a crisper turn in.
