Doesn't look bad but... to much of a race car for me.

I'm prepared to take my time to find the right car. The more people point cars out the more it will be obvious to what I want. Sounds mad really but I can see in my minds eye what I want but can't put it in to words!

Think road, occasional track use, quality build, low mileage, etc

IMHO regardless of the fact that car has previously been raced it's no less practical than any of the cars listed in your opening post.

Yep... that's a fair point. Full roll cages aren't for me.

I am more of a polisher than a racer however I do admire the work that Jeremy Phillips (and others who have taken his designs on) has done over the years.

There's a J15 and a fury in the PH classifieds.

The J15 looks nice but has a 1.4 engine, however as it is already on OMEX ecu then it can easily be changed for a 1.6 with some trick bits giving about 140hp for the remaining £2k of your budget or even the 1.7 puma engine (search Jenko on locostbuilders, he also has his own blog, for a really nice 1.7 Zetec SE J15 pushing out 155hp from a stock engine plus bike TB's).

Also couple of nice Strikers on ebay - NA 20v 4AGE and also supercharged 20v 4AGE.
