996 Turbo PCM1 removal.

I need to remove the PCM1 unit from the centre console.
Can anyone advise the procedure for this?

You need to remove the switch covers either side (they unclip from the bottom). There are 2 spring clamps either side of the PCM which need to be pressed in and then you can carefully pull the PCM out and disconnect the plugs at the back.

This is from official 996TT repair manual PDF which you can find on the net. Can't easily find the link for you now but think I got mine from Rennlist.

Very easy to do as described above. Carefully prise surround away, press in clips, and extract.

Cartronics have PCM repairs on their website but haven't used them. There are some DIY instructions on the net e.g screen replacement

I guess you checked the fuse (simplest fix first...)

Could also try re-seating the connectors and see if that brings it back to life.
There are places online which offer repair around £300.

I was wondering if you had tried to reset the unit? Booting on whilst holding down three buttons which I think is 1, 3 and 0. But I may be wrong on the button numbers.

Just googled the reset and have found mention of button 1, 4 & 8 whilst powering on

Thanks gents - had tried all manner of things before I removed it.
Powered up and played CDs, radio and even cassette (how quaint!)
It's the screen that's had enough. Sent away to Maple Audio for repair.
Will report on the result in a week or so.

All sorted by Maple.
They quoted over the telephone, based on my description of the fault, TBC once they received.
Price was confirmed, repair completed and unit returned, all within a week or so.
Refitted and works perfectly.
