insurance prices
Discussion
currently looking at insurance prices for my chimarea 400...decided to join the tvr car club for a number of reasons, one of which was'access to special insurance deals'.
erm...not so far!
you would have thought that specialists with knowledge of tvr's, their owners, etc rather than dealing with joe bloggs and his mondeo would be able to comfortably beat the high street companies.
Not in my experience.
Some ask you to sign a disclaimer to say that you have owned tvrs or similar in the past, others have special conditions - read limitations, blah, blah, blah...Went on line at privilege and got a cheaper quote no problem and other similar prices via the same route.
whats the point in smaller insurance firms offering a so called specialist service when it is more expensive, in some instances twice the price! and have limitations on use. Don't know how they survive.
Rant over - jus't wondered if others have experienced the same or similar.
Thanks in advance for any tips/replies.

Yeah, I'm going through the same thing at the moment. When I first bought the Chim last year, they were all like 'come back to us once you've driven it for a year and we'll be able to get you an awesome deal' blah blah blah. Now, one year on, their quotes are ~£200 more than I paid last year!
So far, my best quotes have been from tesco (who I used last year) and Peart (from an ad in the TVRCC mag).
I've been through the rest of the TVRCC mag and got no joy, so I'm also looking for suggestions if anyone knows other places worth trying! Ta.

Try MSM Insurance.
For some reason my Tesco renewal went up by 400 quid despite an extra year of claim free driving. MSM then halved what Tesco wanted.
They do have a couple of restrictions but no more than Tesco have. Tesco don't even give you European cover for more than 3 days, you have to add it as an extra before you go on your trip.
On the other hand Tesco quoted very well for the gf's car, but the lack of euro cover meant we went elsewhere.
