Evoque 2.2 SD4 Dynamic 2013 vs 2014 v 2016
Discussion
Hello,
Sorry if this has been covered already but viewing a couple of Evoques this weekend.
I have seen a perfect spec 2013 6 speed Evoque 2.2 SD4 Dynamic at 30k but was wondering if the 6 speed is any less of a car then the 9 speed 2014 models? Is it worth spending the extra on the 9 speed?
I have also looked into the new 2015/2016 models but these would be at least 10k more. Are they actually worth 10k more?
Thank you for your help,
Phil

Hi
Only experience of the 6 speed is in a Freelander and the 9 speed in our 2014 Evoque. Personally I would go for the 9 speed despite the cost, it is a vastly better gearbox the low low 1st is handy off road and towing + the high 9th gets economy over 40's (sometimes haha) even above 80mph. On the move it is intuitive and compliments the power and torque spread of the SD4 very well, the faster changes are welcome when accelerating to.
Only downside is that if it selects 1st to pull away on a steep gradient say out onto a fast road and you floor it, it can hold 1st for to long and with the gear being so short makes it a little jerky going up to 2nd flat out , easy way round this I find is just use the paddles to switch to 2nd once rolling at 5-10 mph then it pulls away well.
Just as an aside I found (legally) that our Evoque seems to have a speed limiter at 125 no matter if its in 7,8 or 9 it wont go any faster yet there is no mention of it anywhere I can see in the handbook/websites?

Hopefully I can help on this as we've owned 2 6 speed Evoques and now have the 9 speed (all with the 2.2 engine).
The 6 speed is fine but you will notice the difference with the 9 speed, not only is the drive smoother, the fuel economy difference is noticeable. Drive them both and I'm sure you'll notice the difference but my vote would be hold out for a 9 speed box if you can.
