Hello one and all I am days away from picking up a 993, and have been looking at the Porsche classic nav radio, and was wondering if anybody on here has it, is it worth it? What other options are there out there? The car currently has an aftermarket radio which I am guessing is about 10 years old and needs to go anyway.

I had a quick look when I was in my local OPC last month, to be honest I really wanted to like it but came away unconvinced. The screen is tiny and I can't believe you could actually see it that well if sat behind the wheel.
It didn't seem as nice either in the flesh, saying that it does look a loads better than the original one. Lastly it didn't seem that intuitive and in the end I walked away.

I guess go and have a look yourself, I'd assume it will be expensive if that's a factor.

I've seen one and not convinced it would look better in a 993.

The nicest audio head unit I've seen in the 964/993 is the Becker Grand Prix also branded Porsche CDR 21 or 210 in the US. With a Garmin / Tom Tom for navigation.

Interested in one of these too but thought it would be a pain to use with the tiny touch screen at arms length! Cost about a grand plus fitting as well so will stick with the Becker radio and smart phone for nav. Doesn't seem to be a lot of info about it either who provide the maps and does it have full postcode entry. Might still check it out next time in OPC

You could also look at flip out options which have nav options available. Pioneer have Better sound quality and better navigation than Porsche too.

I like the look of the continental radio. Only about £65 on eBay. Shame it doesn't have a DAB option, wouldn't stop me buying it though, was it easy to fit?

Kienzle make head units similar to the Continental. Some of them have DAB.

They do a DAB - http://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php/products/car-a... I decided to stick with the simple one as I just want USB music and Bluetooth streaming. It also needs a new aerial. I have a 993 with enough aerial issues. Bergvill is very good - got radio in about 5 days.

Sure http://www.bergvillfx.com/index.php/products/car-a... Not available in UK. I like the Kienzle a few posts up. Tore Bergvill is very good and helpful on all matters Porsche and electrics. I would buy from him rather than eBay. Well-packed, includes postage I think.

Edited to say http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Schlauer-Shop24/Kienzle-V... looks legit and some nice period stuff for good money. The Becker is the best but silly price now.

Fitted today - really good. Works on Bluetooth from iPhone. Just need to get small USB and I'm done. Installation simple click in with existing plugs. Only thing I would say is that final plastic surround needs some jostling to get in and won't be easy to get out without damage. I did not fit microphone. Recommended for the money.
