Just looking at options for insurance on the GT4 (which is stuck between Osnabruck and Sheerness at the moment). The best quote id had so far was Manning which includes UK track day insurance, and I was going to go with them. However, I've just had a quote from NFU that's £250 cheaper but they don't do track days.

Anybody got ideas on where to get just track day cover from?

Just trying to work out if the extra with manning is going to be worth it.

I doubt you'll get track day cover for much under £200/day so if you're planning to do 2+ days you'll probably be better off with the Mannings policy.

I think they are good for this type of car/cover. Both in terms of their understanding and with respect to cost.

I have no interest to declare here!

I was thinking along the same lines but when you factor in the fact that they don't require a tracker, it makes life more interesting. Insurance is such a tricky choice, as it's very hard to know who is a good insurer until you need them, and then it's to late!

Henderson Taylor.

They include 6 track days.

Excess is 10% of the vehicle value though IIRC..

That's pretty much standard for all track day cover.

I'm going with Mannings. £1200 with all UK and Nurburgring track day cover sounds reasonable to me.

Are you going with them for insurance or just track day insurance?

I've bought a few standalone track day policies, from moris: http://www.moris.co.uk/Track-day-insurance

They are competitive, and also give the lowest excess I have seen on a track policy. It's all individually underwritten (all cases referred) so if you have plenty of experience on track, and in your current car you will get the best rates and conditions.

For a GT4 worth £100k you would be looking at £300-£500 a day though, but the excess may be £2.5k - £5k depending on your risk profile. I pay around £300 a day on my 7.1 GT3, and the excess is approx. £2.5k, but this differs from track to track. They also can cover euro tracks.

Like all track policies, the cover is only there for a cat loss. The annual policies that give cover with 10% excess means £10k excess for a £100k car, so it all depends on your attitude to risk. With a premium of £300 per day, you could cover 25 trackdays which would be the difference in excess between £2.5k and £10k.

No right or wrong answer, your appetite for risk will give you the solution!

Thanks for the info S1MMA, the other bonus with NFU is that it doesn't require a Tracker, which reduces the cost further.
