Every 7 minutes 45 seconds...

Just curious really.. I have an old w163 ml that I use as a daily runaround and it's developed a gearbox fault during the past month. All of the abs/brake warning lights come on, lose the speedo and it sticks in whatever gear it's in at the time. Figured that it was an abs sensor and was going to go on a multimeter hunt until I realised that it always does it on the same section of road, then I got the stopwatch app on my phone out 
It does it if the car doesn't move too. Start the engine, start the stopwatch, leave in park and 7 minutes 45 seconds later it goes into limp mode. Is there some sort of self diagnosis that the car does at this interval, or is it haunted??!?
