I quite fancy using an action cam to capture some footage on board my 17ft sea angling boat.
Ideally I'd like to mount one on the cabin and switch it on at first bite, and off again when a fish is landed, in order to conserve the limited battery life and avoid too much editing.
What I don't want to be doing is trying to turn it on and off with hands covered in fish guts or bait, or trying to fiddle with tiny buttons in a rolling swell.
I know that some of them can be controlled wirelessly using a mobile phone, but that presents the same problems.
I've found that Rollei do a camera with a a wireless wrist watch style on off switch that may be the solution, but that camera doesn't seem to be readily available in the UK.

I wondered what kit those of you more familiar with action cams would recommend as a solution? My budget is up to £100

You can get a dedicated remote for GoPros, but they won't be in budget. They will need the power/wifi on to use the remote - this may also be a problem with other cameras.

The GoPro will come with a waterproof case and can be operated in Quick Capture mode where one press on the top turns it on and starts recording then another press stops it and turns it off.
At £100 you are looking at the budget end.
Try for a GoPro Silver if you can.
