I am planning on refreshing my steering wheel - I want it slightly thicker with orange stitching. I'm thinking of using Royal Steering Wheels. They have got mentions in the past on PH but I just want to make sure that I am going to the right place.

Many thanks

I saw one that they had done recently. Top notch, could not fault the quality of the job.

They quoted me 120 +9.99 postage... and 1-2 weeks lead time. That was last year... I still have not got around to getting mine done.

The job they did on an Alcantara re-trim for me a few years ago wasn't great. Hopefully they've improved.

Thanks for comments. I have gone ahead (£125 isn't a great deal of money) and will report back if anyone is interested.

Not a Porsche but they did my Civic steering wheel. Black alcantara with red stitching, still looks great. http://royalsteeringwheels.com/honda/ Mine's the third one down on the right.

Jack at Royal has just done a Mini Cooper steering wheel for me on an exchange basis....his quality of work is great although it was delayed by a week or two as he has been away from work due to illness. He should hopefully have caught up on the backlog of work & even if it did take a few days extra, the communication is good & they will email you to say when dispatch is due.

Royal steering wheels did the wheel on my Z3m coupe and I'm pretty happy with it. All the work is done by hand so don't expect factory finish, you will have the odd crease in the leather here and there, but all in all a very good job.

I had a steering wheel retrimed in alcantara by Royal Steering Wheels the other year and it was a good job indeed.
I then had another one done in alcantara with red stitching by DesignLS this year and the finish was nothing short of factory finish.

Jack does a good job at Royal but pay a bit more and DesignLS is factory finish.

Just thought I would bump this thread since it was the one I ended up at when looking for recommendations for getting my Ultima steering wheel retrimmed from its original suede to leather.

I asked Jack for smooth leather on top and bottom, perforated leather on the sides, contrast stitching and vertical stripe in orange and had the whole rim made thicker. 10 day turn around and £130 inc P&P.

Mega impressed with the finished article and a really great guy to deal with.

Used Royal in the past on my BMW 1M steering wheel, had it done in Alcantara, nice finish for the money,

Budflicker, really like the wheel and gear knob finished with Red stitching, what sort of money did you pay i you don't mind me asking?

Cheers

Gear shifter is an OEM Porsche part for a 996 GT3RS about £190 and the steering wheel retrimed was about £220.
