Very odd. I thought it was an informative topic. I was selling a Rolex, slightly miffed with low offer, so vented in a new topic, some good advice from you guys about price and my last post was that I sold the watch.

So, the topic ran and I sold the watch the legacy of which was a guide price for Rolex Sub. However the topic was removed by admin as they thought it was an ad for my watch, even though I sold it...

To re-cap

A good selling price for a Rolex Sub, new model is around £4400, aim for that if buying or selling.

Thank you.

I reckon people are going to say that's BS but with a 12-14% discount and when the exchange was good It was a great time to buy! I had an SD4000 at £5.4

Is that the target price for a brand new/ with date model?

If the rrp is £5000, a VAT free is 4166 and at some places abroad a small discount can be negotiated.

A popular item to buy abroad.

That would be a No Date model.

Well corrected. In my mind the 'Submariner' is the date version.

I paid a 20% deposit today for a new Daytona in the UK (watch to arrive next week).
My girlfriend is in Paris until Monday, so, from the posts above, it sounds like it is worth me asking her to pay a visit in to a Rolex AD with a view to buy overseas instead.

The exchange rate isn't as favourable now as this time last year I'm afraid.

I think the 116500 sells for 11300€, so no it's cheaper to buy in the UK, if of course you are paying £8250.

Thank you coldsnap, that is a good benchmark.
I'm currently after a bi metal version (116523) so will ask my girlfriend to try and get a price.

But aren't prices the same everywhere until decent discounts and favourable exchange rates kick in?

Though you may have some luck on bi metal

The one without the date is the Submariner, the one with it is the Submariner Date. The date model was an addition in the late 1960s to appeal to the fashion market.

If you work for a company that gives your employee privileges.

Sometimes you can pick up the gift-cards for the likes of goldsmiths etc at a discount rate of anywhere between 10-20%

I bought my 2014 date sub in December of 2014 at with the discounted gift-cards for £4900 give or take a few quid still have the receipt for anyone who would like proof.
