FROM THE CLASSIC BRITISH WELCOME - PLEASE READ THIS CAREFULLY !!!

Hi everyone, to clear up any confusion, this is how the Classic British Welcome event at Saint Saturnin works.

First of all, for the general public bringing their cars, there is no pre-registration. . . it is NOT possible.
One of the committee decides which cars are 'sports/classics' and that determines if you get waved into the site or the public parking outside.
It is difficult to give a definitive answer on what gets on site, but the earlier you arrive the more chance there is.
We get more choosy the fuller the site gets.

We have given PH a space at the site that will accommodate around 200 cars. We have asked them to try to keep their cars to be in keeping with the spirit of the event. You need to register with PH for those spaces.

My advice is to arrive before 10am and if you want to get your car onto the site (unless registered with PH), come in a car worthy of being called a sports or classic car. The older the better!
We have worked with PH to try to improve entry to and departure from the site, and better signage back to Le Mans.

The theme is Alpine this year (first ever French theme) and we are expecting around 150 Alpines. Our indoor exhibition has every Alpine model and two Le Mans race Alpines from the 1970's/80's, plus the new just released model from the Alpine factory in Dieppe.
All of our 120 helpers are volunteers (98% French) and they are doing this because they love to see your cars.
Please ask any sensible questions, and I will reply if I can.
We look forward to seeing you all in June . .. your cars make our event what it is. Thank you!

Thanks for the update Dave. Can you expand on the access changes please, in particular the exit arrangements? I love the event but last year when it rained and lots of people left at once it took us nearly 2 hours to get out of the industrial estate... rather offputting...

Last year was outstanding, but it took us hours to get out too. There were hundreds of people leaving at once when it started bucketing down ... but regardless of that it was still well worth the chew to attend!

Quality event always worth a visit been last 6 years! Got to love a brass band some awesome cars and beer! Hopefully the traffic on leaving this year isn't suicidal like last year.

can you get there on the tram or do you have to drive really? What sort of time do people start to leave if the weather stays good?

You cant get there by tram, its outside the main ring road and autoroute to the north of the city.
If sunny then it breaks up by mid afternoon.

Does anyone know if the car washing will be there this year? Used to get my car done every year but not seen him for a year or so. Saves me on bothering to take car cleaning stuff if it can be done on Friday.

I've not seen the car washing at CBW in the tea years we've been going. There's a good auto lavage on the way to the CBW (on the left off the D338) as you head there....I prefer to jet wash my car if I can with a little privacy & you just need a drying towel instead wink & it's also a covered facility which uses warm water (it was good last year at swilling the sea salt off the cars after they were on the top deck on an overnight ferry thumbup )

Good call, just checked out where abouts that is so might stop off there on the way in if we're early enough, and if it's not raining.
