Following a pub-convo last night, we wondered:

Which car has the cheapest insurance cover?
(theory based on third-party, low miles etc)

A few ideas:
A low-value shed?
A highly-safe tank?
A low-desirable wagon?
A classic?

Granted we have a fair few variables at play, location, policy-holder history etc

Think I pay £120 to insure a couple of old BMW motorbikes.

Fully comp, unlimited mileage.

2001 Mondeo Zetec s 2.5 V6

St looks , 18" alloys the 5 spoke ones look best, under 1k for something decent with low miles. Think insurance for me fully comp was around £220 a year .

Mine was an estate in blue and was a fabulous car , owned for 4 years virtually zero costs involved .

Definitely go the classic route, it doesn't need to be particularly old/special. £120 ish for my MX5, £88 for my old Landie

had a 72 vw bay camper for 10/12 years. road tax exempt and £100 a yr fully comp with £7000 agreed value.

1992- 2004/5 ownership- period of time.

at the time, it was probably one of the best/better campervans around too.

Some of this depends on where you keep the car I think...I couldn't get classic car cover for my 200sx last year as it was kept on the road. Most policies only applied if the car was garaged.
Anyone know of classic policies that cover cars kept on the road?

Yes http://www.classiclineinsurance.co.uk/

At one point I had my Lotus and BMW insured with them but only the Lotus was in the garage. When I told them the BMW was not going to be garaged there was no change in premium.

Not sure third party is always cheaper?

I bought an '04 Polo for my Son who's not passed his test yet but in the meantime I was toying with insuring it in my name so that I could drive it whilst sorting any issues, MOT etc. I was quoted £60 more for TPO than fully comprehensive...
