I was talking to my 10 year old son about the computer game he plays on, called Roblox.

In the game, you play the role of pilot, surgeon, policeman, etc. and gain promotion through the ranks through helping and working.

I asked him about what he was doing now and he said his role was to review applications for promotion and grant or deny them.

I asked how he decided.

"It's easy" he said "if they use 'u' instead of 'you' or leave a full stop off the end of their sentences, I turn them down.

That's my boy.

Was there a real need to capitalise every word of your thread title?

Have you tried explaining that the thick ones cause less problems?

Yes, because it's a title.

Did they not have enough capital letters to go around at your school?

You didn't close your speech marks at the end of that sentence. I guess you don't get the job.

wink

Title case does not automatically capitalise every word, though there is no absolute "rule".

Exactly, it isn't prohibited either.

Why have you put a full stop after etc ?

Indeed. It was mostly light hearted banter.

Because it's almost the right way to present that abbreviation.

I think we missed the important point. The OP's son must be on PH.

Well, of course.

Grammar Police is a proper name.

And "The Next Generation" is a recognised and often abbreviated phrase which also frequently acts as a proper name.

In time, this thread will achieve worldwide fame and become known as GP-TNG wink

"I'm afraid there are very few tickets left for that performance."

I'm helping a Bulgarian neighbour's daughter with her English homework, the task is to correct the grammar of the above sentence. I'm stuck, over to the experts. smile

Is 'very few' correct English. Should it not be 'there are only a few tickets left'?
