With all the trauma of the fuel pipe over I have now got down to posting about my new alarm and immobiliser installation. When working on the Griff over the winter, on the occasions where I had to start her up, I found that the immobiliser was not deactivating (I had a separate immobiliser and a main Gemini Alarm), I had to disconnect it and effectively 'reboot' for it to work properly. This went on randomly from March till recently when I knew the whole lot would need replacement. I hasten to add the Gemini alarm and remote door unlock/lock still worked OK.

Though I could have tackled this myself I thought it prudent to enlist the services of a contact who is an automotive alarm expert. He actually provided and fitted an excellent alarm/immobiliser system for my classic LR Defender a few years back (still works perfectly). So I booked Mark for last Wednesday (25th May). He started by identifying all the inputs/outputs from the Gemini system and then the immobiliser. Whilst tracing the loom wires we uncovered some abysmal wiring and connections, all bound within the original TVR loom, in fact one such connection was causing an intermittent effect whereby the fuel pump was not activating. He tidied all the anomalies, crimping and soldering where required. Once all the connections were identified the old alarm and immobiliser was taken out and the new one box system installed. This was then all neatly cable tied and located in a suitable place. It now all works as I would like, alarm and immobiliser (which now disconnects both fuel pump and starter motor). The new system is programmable to do various functions and have a number of external switches and sensors. Also now have the luxury of opening the boot on the touch of a fob button! I had the same (but latest version) of the one fitted to my Defender. Mark fits these AutoWatch systems to many types or vehicle including classic Porsche and camper vans etc.

All in all cost me £270 which I thought was a very good price for a thorough installation. Happy days now! smile

Hi Pete,

Sounds like money well spent. I'm still fighting on with the original Gemini system. PM me if you would consider selling me your old fob, I would really like to try to re-program a spare, just in case. It's scary having the panic of the first press of the button not working.

Cheers

Mark
