Bike Hire around Ullswater/Patterdale + possible routes?

We're going up to the Lake District this weekend with the car club, for a week, staying in a house in Patterdale.
Does anywhere know where i could hire a decent quality road bike? We're in mx5's so cant carry the bike from the hire place - so ideally somewhere very local where i could be dropped off, or who would deliver.
Doesnt need to be a TDF-quality carbon beauty, but most of the websites ive seen that mention bike hire imply they are basic family-friendly hybrids or low-tier mountain bikes.
Probably just want the bike for a day, to do 40-60 miles, depending on the terrain (im guessing i should expect hills?
) Also any suggestions of nice routes would be good.
The other option is forgetting about the road and bobbing over to Grisedale for the mountain bike trails - i heard its pretty good?
