My in-laws have a lovely converted barn but when the property was developed, the developers saw fit to only install one Sky socket in each room, which isn't much help for Sky+.

Other than drilling through a 3' wall, and having a cable around the place, any ways around it? The house has a central hub which then spreads the feed around house, complete with phone line as well. Nearest alternative socket is upstairs if that helps.

Is there an aerial socket as well as a Sky? If so you could covert that.

I don't think so, but will check!

What about SKY Q - does that help? I thought that delivered SKY over wireless.
I believe Sky have a solution for multi-tenanted bulidings (flats) but I'd imagine they may not take kindly to being asked to treat a single dwelling as this - see reference to SCS in: http://helpforum.sky.com/t5/Archived-Discussions/s...
I would've thought SKY would do the drilling if you paid them smile

Sky offered, but the property has original flag stone flooring, so no chance of hiding the cables. It would also have to run a long way, so visible all the way, so out of the question really.

Presumably the current wiring is out of sight, so can the figure-of-eight 'shotgun' cable be pulled through to replace the single cable?

Sky Q could help if there is a place to put the main box with 2 feeds. Then you could put a mini box in the room you are having issues with and steam to that. This wouldn't work if you wanted to upgrade to 4k though as the minis don't support it.
