190 door cards

I have a 190 2.5-16 with full leather interior, however the door cards are looking a little tired and are releasing at the top edge. I understand this is a common problem.

I have contacted MB however I am unable to get replacements.

Does anyone have any experience or suggestions as to where to go next?

The most common DIY solution appears to be fitting a strip of right-angled plastic between the top of the door car and the seal for the window.

If you can find someone who knows how to re-fix the vinyl (I expect it requires only heat, glue and experience), he will have a path beaten to his door by 190 owners everywhere.
