...after having my ACL repaired and the surgeon 'recommended' going to the Festival of Speed in 3 weeks probably isn't a good idea frown

I'm gutted, I've never been before and was really looking forward to it. Was going for a night out down there the night before too. At least my knee is fixed (hopefully)!

On a side note, the after effects of the anesthetic is making typing on my phone really difficult!!!

3 weeks should be plenty of time to get used to hobbling about. If you're just spectating, then why not? Just make sure you take a friend to help you out occasionally.

Are they stripping your hamstring for the repair? If so it took me 9 months to walk again properly and about 18 months before I could jog. Distances become difficult especially in the early days. Are they talking about fitting you with a knee brace? If so expect lots of forest gump references

I don't think they have taken anything from my hamstring but lying here in my hospital bed, my hamstring does feel a tad right. This is my second ACL op, I did my left knee about 8 years ago so kind of know what to expect. Fingers crossed I can get back to playing basketball in about a years time but the confidence in knees may of gone. No, no brace needed thank god. I had a knee brace for a few months after the initially injury which sucked!

I am just spectating and going with a couple of mates, but I wouldn't want them to miss a load of stuff cos I'm so slow. I think the surgeon was warning me about how painful my knee could be after we get home. I did think about what extra access I might get if the lads wheel me about in a chair?!

Hire a mobility scooter! That might be a bit of fun and you can get about.

Hi there Bug sorry to hear you're laid up at the mo. Re Goodwood, a friend of mine had tickets last year & pranged his track car about a fortnight before the FOS, putting him on crutches for about a month.

I recall he still went & hired a mobility scooter - I've had a word with him, he got it through here: thumbup

Hope this helps, best wishes for a speedy recovery chap.

If it's likely to be muddy, you will probably want a chair your mates can haul backwards if necessary (big wheels = better for mud) rather than a scooter. More fun to be independently mobile, but being stuck on a bogged-down scooter ain't independent! Ask surgeon if an elevating leg rest on borrowed wheelchair would be helpful for your operated-on leg.

Check rules about drinking on painkillers if you're still on meds by then, you can fk yourself up amazingly badly by mixing some drugs with alcohol.

I did Pistonfest (Snetterton) on wheels, even a bit rainy it was fine.

I have to say when I saw you at pistonfest I did think it was impressively brave, I wouldn't have tried it if I was on wheel, especially after the chaos that ensued!
