I've watched a few threads head in a direction I really don't like. I'm not going to get into specifics but I think it is not good that some people refuse to listen to other people's viewpoint.
I wonder what the point is of trying to have reasonable adult discussions when it is plain that some people will never change their mind no matter what the cirumstances.
So I have decided that I'm going to lurk only for a while.....When it is no longer fun, then it is time for a change.

I can understand where you're coming from. Some of the stuff I've seen on here frustrates the hell out of me and makes me pace the floor and snarl "Some prat on PistonHeads said..." to my other half but then I think that it would be a boring world if everyone had the same opinion and if some people are unable to hold an adult debate then tough luck on them. It's those people that are so much the poorer for it, not you.

It pains me to say it, but I'm feeling a bit like ca90210 as well - I certainly don't post as much as I used to.
Many of the threads on here seem to descend into the same old agruments, with the same old patricpants stating the same old points of view - from both "sides" of the divide.

And it always will until one of the "sides" does something about it. This site is great for understanding what ails the public and what annoys the BiB.
New people come on and old people go etc. This adds to new viewpoints of debate. There is never a place for personal abuse on these forums and its sad when it goes that way, that is why you should never take it personally. They dont know you so how can it be personal?
If I took offense at every time someone said "IT support are crap" then I would probably not be in the job very long... I have a list of happy private and public clints which is getting longer by the day. They are having a go at the system NOT me personally.
Same goes for you guys - if you believe and know that you are better than the people and the system whom the threads are relating to, there is no problem no?

I'm still fairly new here, and may not appreciate some of the dynamics, but compared to some other forums I can name (Single make, even single model), this place is a hotbed of variety, openness, and considerate posting...well, mostly.
I now very rarely visit my "first" forum due to the clique that has developed at the heart of it and who spend their time sniping at anyone with a different point of view.

I think unfortunately its too easy on here for some protagonists to point the finger at individuals, who aren't directly to blame. After all, being in the Force means you only uphold the law. Making it is nothing to do with the police, and you guys have my sympathy. Its not a job I could do, I simply do not have either the tolerance or the patience.
Its always a shame when the BiB on here get tarred with the same old brush. The recent thread about bad experiences with the police being such an example. Its the same as anything in life, people only remember the bad experiences, never the good.
You chaps have my deepest respect.
