Why buy a used 4-5 year old 12C when a 570S is as fast as a 650S for nearly half the price, and is the best looking McLaren in the entire range with easily the best interior design by a country mile.
I was quoted a 4 month lead time from order by Ascot over the phone.
Firstly, the 570s despite being a great car, is not as quick as a 650s or a 12c! Secondly, the 570 may be the newest McLaren but if you were to buy one new from the factory then you would have to expect it to depreciate quite a bit within the next couple of years! On the other hand, 12c's are currently appreciating (especially the spider's) so i feel that it would make more sense to get a 12c over a 570s! You will also be saving yourself money by buying a 12c because they are cheaper than specing a brand new 570! however, if your not worried about the money side then YES, defiantly the 570 would be the better way to go!I was quoted a 4 month lead time from order by Ascot over the phone.
i just think that the 12c shouldn't be overlooked! And anyway i quite like the subtleness of them, and having seen a few on the roads and in person, they look a lot better in the flesh (like all McLaren's in my opinion)

I'm not saying that the 12c is a better car but just think that in the long term the 12c would be a better investment. But yes, i agree the 570 is the better looking car and would probably give a better driving experience, due to its updated technology, as well as give off more of a supercar presence and feel

its all personal preference though and what type of car that suits you at the end of the day! if your looking for a great car that will also be an investment then the 12c is the way to go, but if you want the newest model with updated technology, greats looks as well as performance then for sure the 570 would be the better option

Actually, recent road tests indicate that 570S IS actually as fast as a 650S, let alone a 12CEdited by supercarsj on Tuesday 7th June 20:56

Recent press reports suggest Mclaren have made a sleeper hit with the 570S which is in fact as quick as a 650S despite the 0.2sec 0-62 time difference on the spec sheet. The 570 has also embarrassed 650S's at various press launches where both were available for track work.
The 570S looks better, is brand new, has a full warranty and has loads more street appeal than the 12C.
Depreciation? Who buys these sorts of cars with depreciation in mind? I paid £69k for my brand new built-to-spec fully loaded 981 Boxster GTS 18 months ago and it's likely worth £55k now. Meantime I have put 11,000 glorious miles on it all over England and Wales and at various tracks. Best £14 I've ever spent
If you're being anal about depreciation then you can't afford to buy these cars, or the 12C is the obvious choice, agreed.
Alternatively, use the PCP offer from Mclaren with a guaranteed £92k final value that you can walk away from. It will cost you £1900 per month for 36 months if you include the initial payment, then walk away or flip it for the Spider.

Must admit the 540/570 performance and looks, plus 3 years warranty does seem tempting vs a S/H 659 or 12C. Dealers need to consider 2 years warranty on s/h cars like you get at Ferrari or Porsche.
This was my thinking. Warranty on the 12C is £3.5k + £1.5k service so £5k a year.458 from a dealer will cost you nothing for the first 2 years vs £6.5k for a used 12c (exluding depreciation)....
Though the initial thread was about lead times it appears to have drifted somewhat
