Any recommendations as to where to take my Chim 400 for a rolling road diagnostic / tuning session in the South West.

My Scooby feels SO much quicker than my Chim, surely this shouldn't be the case. RR only way I can see to check the car properly.

Thanks in advance,

Simon

Took mine to a Mark Adams session in Cheltenham.
Mark Adams ia 'the' RV8 god - if you want more power get in touch with him.

Hint - everybody has trouble getting in touch with Mark Adams - it's been posted on PH so many times I'm not going to bother looking for a reference - doo a search and you should be OK, otherwise mail me.

Woo Hoo - more power!!!!!
All the best - Nacnud

Interpro down at Thornbury are supposed to be very good. Not too difficult to get in for a quick power run, but for a full-on tune I've been told they're booked months in advance.

Depends on the scooby but none of them are slow, even the slowest is on a par with a Chim 400. The base 4 door turbo was tested by Performance Car and Top Gear magazine in '97 and found to do 0-60 in a little over 5 seconds - around the same as 4 litre Chim. When Autocar tested the 5 door hatch version, its 30-70 time was a second faster than a Porsche Boxter. So in a straight line a base Scooby should be about the same as your chim. Depends on your version (cant tell from profile) but a base model Scooby shouldnt feel significantly quicker than your chim.

Hi Jamie,

The Scooby is standard, apart from having a 1999 ROM instead of the 2000 one (smoother running).

It feels a lot quicker than my Chim.

Turbocharger = greater perception of speed. Off boost you effectively have a Mondeo, on-boost a monster. TVRs have a very linear NA power delivery so like for like will always seem slower.

Also, the Scooby's 0-60 times don't really tell a lot when it comes to the performance. 4WD traction trumps all off the line and help to play up the 0-60 time compared to other cars. For example my FWD car with a turbo is knocking about 300bhp, but I'd be lucky to get to 60 in under 6 seconds (but admittedly a FWD car is the worse example).

0-120 and quarter-mile times are far more accurate asssessment of a car's straight-line potential IMO.
