Auto collage tool
Discussion
I've tried a few online and downloadable auto collage programmes and none will do what I want them to - 100 photos, auto-collaged with a bit of overlap and maybe rotation, and keeping their original portrait/landscape aspects, outputting to a decent sized image (6k x 4k or similar).
The (free) ones I've tried either crop the images, ignore the image's aspect ratio or limit the output resolution.
Any suggestions?

I've used Shape Collage quite a bit in the past ..

Not sure how limited the free version is but the paid version has lots you can change and also export as a PSD for tweeking in photoshop etc. You can set the size and resolution so easy to make a collage 6000px x 4000px if you want.

I tried to download that but Chrome told me it was a malicious program and wouldn't let me - I'll try to find another download location (or a less fussy browser).http://www.shapecollage.com/

Have you tried Picasa?
I've only just seen this post, but was literally just coming to post this.
Picasa has been subsumed into Google Photos, but it can do a 9-image auto collage with fixed white borders (i.e. can't overlap or change settings on anything). So I did 11 of those to use up 99 of the images, arranged them on a huge blank Paint image, with a large gap left over to paste the best image in at full size.
Guess I could have done that with one of the other (dozen) tools I tried, but the desktop ones all had limitations or watermarks, and the online ones were super-slow or were designed by and for hipsters and so basically unusable unless you were born with an iPhone in your cot.
