A few years ago i started brewing turbo cider. Well i am starting again and wanted to check if others are doing it this year and what are peoples receipts..

Heres mine (lifted from https://www.brewersbarn.co.uk/blogs/recipes/454559...
4.5L Fruit Juice
150g Brewing Sugar
1 tsp Pectolase
1 tsp Tannin
1 sachet Cider Yeast
Method

Sterilise all your equipment
Bring 500ml of juice to the boil and dissolve into it 150g sugar, then add to the demi-john.
Add 3L of juice to the demi-john, along with the Pectolase and the Tannin, gently shake the demi-john and add the Yeast. Half fill the airlock with water and attach to the demi-john
Fermentation should start to happen within a day or so. After about 4 days the foam will go down, when this happens, add the remaining juice and leave to ferment out (when bubbles stop passing through the airlock) around 1 to 2 weeks.
Once fermentation is complete, you can either syphon into a clean demi-john for a scrumpy cider or for a sparkling cider syphon into bottles with half a teaspoon of sugar, cap them and leave to carbonate for 2- 3 weeks.

The cider is ready to drink, but will improve if left longer.

Recipe seems reasonable. Just check the temperature before adding the yeast, any higher than about 25C and you risk killing off the yeast.

I've considered making turbo cider myself but it is really any better than the stuff you can buy 2 litres of for £2 in pretty much any supermarket? The cost of the juice to make your own must be similar?

Apple juice can be had for as little as 50p per litre and it will make 9% drinkable cider if you know how.

Here's my er, receipt:

Yeast with sweetener
Yeast food
24l Value apple juice Tesco
1kg sugar
340 Honey
2 tsp Pectolase
5 tea bags for tannin
500g Sultanas minced through the blender

Initially 1070
Went to 998 in 7 days
Circa 9.5 %

Fermentation was gentle luckily as it was almost filled to the brim.
Floating bits of Sultana were a problem when siphoning so will either put into muslin bag or use a lobster pot spray gun filter next time.

I've been trying it on and off for a couple of years, I don't do quantity so like it strong. You quickly realise of course that whilst strength comes with sugar it does make it dry and TC is known for being a bit harsh so the trick is strength without it being undrinkable. The yeast with sweetener makes the difference and this one tastes good already even though it's not even bottled yet.
