Air Con Schrader Valve
Discussion
Hi Guys,
Recently had my aircon charged up and tested and they didn't find any leaks, went to use it yesterday and nothing .... removed the black cap on the fill point and it hissed, so I'm guessing as no leaks were found its the valve that's gone.
Question is are they a certain size and where can I get a pair from?
Thanks
Matt
Hi Mat,
You need one of these, its a shroeder valve removal tool. It sounds like your shroeder valve insert is loose. If you look into the charging point that is leaking you will see a central pin with two shoulders either side of it just like on a tyre valve. This tool goes over the pin (as this ((if pressed)) releases the gas) and twists the valve tight using the shoulders.
Righty tighty, lefty loosy! I have never found any other tool you can use to do this, just one of those tools that you probably wont use again, but they are cheep. Halfords sell them, but theirs dont look like this, they are a metal cross shaped thing. Most bike shops should have them.
