Discussion
Oil pressure is something that keeps coming up for discussion again and again. Wedge oil pressure is normally quite low when compared to other cars. Probably around 15 when idling and hot and reaching maybe 35 when revving. What matters more than the pressure is how quickly the pressure increases when revved. A healthy engine will react quickly. Lots of factors effect the pressure. The filter you use, the oil you use and the condition of the oil pump and it's components. The danger point is if you hear the engine rattling when warm and idling as that indicates oil starvation. A lot of people have many views on this subject.

Frankly I wouldn't be relying on the standard gauge. Apart from anything else, there are so few graduations as to make it something of a guess. If you can, even temporarily, connect up a separate gauge with a decent scale. Set your idle to 1k rpm- it helps keep the pressure up and the coolant circulating a bit better. Oil: lots of opinions, but I would suggest a 15w 50 - semi synthetic unless you're doing track work. Cold idle I would expect to see getting on for 20 psi and hot idle around 15 psi. Given that you shouldn't exceed 2.5k rpm until the engine is warm, I will only say that when revving a hot engine over that figure I would expect to see about 40psi.
Thanks guys I think you have told me what I thought. Mine used to be 40-45 psi cold 35 hot and 15 on tickover but since the oil change its gone 35-40 cold 25 hot and tickover 10. I am going to start by questioning the oil used as its always had 25/50 millers. Hopefully that will be the answer.
