So running in the GT4 at the moment and up to 400 miles. So I spent an hour or so on the A5 and M69/6/42 yesterday, no more than 4k5 on the A roads and ~3k ish on the motorway and hte oil temperature was sitting at 110C. Seems a little high to me given that my GTR used to sit at low to mid 80s on a warm/hot day maybe 90 if it was particularly hot, and I wasn't exactly canning it.

Normal behavior?

Just stick the sport button on for additional cooling wink but of course Andreas states that the button doesn't do anything but add the over-rev feature.

I seem to recall when I did a long journey last weekend on the motorway the oil temp. sat at 110* so I would say it's normal

My Spyder's Oil temp normally rests around 105 so 110 doesn't look too bad to me

On the motorway this evening my oil temperature was 118 degrees C and pressing the sport button reduced it to 102 in around five minutes.

The third radiator that this brings into play also comes into play automatically at around 5000 rpm ...

It an amazingly complex cooling system. There are a whole suite of sensors and maps that keep oil / water / engine bay temps just where Porsche want it. In general Motorway running the oil temp looks quite scarily high, mine is about 115C. However as soon as you load the system up a bit more then it all drops right down. I have read the dealers workshop manual and it's mega complex. Glad it's got a warranty!
I just wish they had spent the same amount of effort making sure it used less fuel! eek

I think we mentioned this before on another thread.........the car does appear to use alot more fuel running cooler with sport depressed so I only use in sport mode 5 mins before cutting the engine and not whilst normal driving.

Thanks for the feedback chaps, probably me just being paranoid then biggrin I did have a play with the sport button and was pretty impressed how quickly it dropped the water temp from 106 to 85-90.

Only just started using up to 5k so haven't got to the "automatic sport" mode that ChrisW is talking about.

On the fuel front I did manage to get 25.6 average on a run on Sunday. I'll see what it does going to Le Mans next weekend.
