I have a kit from Chipex that's several years old. I tried to use it before and had the same problems as now. The paint and solution seem fine, still, so I've had another go.

I follow the kit instructions and Youtube videos but I have always run into trouble with blending.

No matter how I do it (leave longer, leave shorter, less pressure, less solution) the blending solution and blue cloth drag the paint back out of the chip. If I don't use enough blending solution, the paint 'blob' doesn't shift at all.

Any tips?

My kit didn't come with a square foam pad that I see in some videos (and I don't think my instructions mention it, so maybe it was added to kits later) but I've tried using some soft balsa wood and some Doctor Power foam. The result is the same as if I just use my fingers.

I'm left with a green-coloured chip instead of a white coloured chip.

I have not had much success either...however, I noticed that using a different part of the blue cloth regularly is the best way to go. So, use one part of the blue cloth and, after about 10 seconds, change to a different part of the cloth. Doing this, you can leave the paint on the bodywork for maybe one or two mins more. I used it in Autumn so it was not as hot is it can get now, so drying times will vary

The solvent bottle (final step) is a bit small and I dunno what I will replace it with when it finishes

Isn't the final step the polish?

It's paint, blender solvent stuff then polish.

I found two strategies that help

1) Leave it 15 minutes, couple of wipes with the blending and then finish off by using the polish
2) If that doesn't work, put the paint on leave it overnight then come back and same method. Just dont overdo the blending solution, I relied on the polish to bring it down and it worked a treat.

Thanks! I'll give that a go.
