One thing I'm hoping PH can clarify, I have a Van with a 3500 GVW, does that put me in the under 3500kg or the over 3500kg category for speed limits in france?

Some websites say vans have the same limits as cars, others say I'd have to stick to the higher limits.

All the charst seems to say under or over 3500kg, as I'm on the changeover point I'd like some clarification, obviously there is the safe option of stick to the lower limits, but I'd like to get there before the race ends!!

If your van has a maximum gross weight of 3500kg meaning your are not exceeding 3500kg, so the higher speeds apply.
here is a reminder of the speed limits

Under 3.5tons
50kmh built up areas
90kmh Single Carriageways, Lanes, Trunk Routes, Bypasses, Single-Track Roads, Highways
110kmh Dual Carriageways, Expressways
130kmh Autoroutes
-
Visiting drivers who have been driving for less than 2 years must not exceed 80kmh (highway) or 110kmh (motorway).
-
Over 3.5tons
50kmh built up areas
90kmh Single Carriageways, Lanes, Trunk Routes, Bypasses, Single-Track Roads, Highways

Took a 3500kg transit in 2011 and did the signed limits apart from the motorway as it wouldn't cruise at 80mph. Didn't have any problems when going through the police speed traps.
