Took a little while but she is becoming a wedge fan
Discussion
Must admit I always thought the Griffith was the best looking TVR ever, but I also love the shape of the 400SE, so replacing the Griff in February with a 400SE was not a hardship for me. Although, being a glass half empty guy, all I can do now is moan about how I could have got another £3.5k if I was selling now…but then I would have missed the wedge
but I digress.
Unfortunately, the current Mrs Brough of 32 years was not as enamored of the wedge as I was, "what did you have to buy that square thing for" was one of the kinder comments towards the car that she made. However, last week we went away to the Lake District for a couple of nights taking the wedge. Things did not start well when after a two miles the current Mrs B announced she had forgotten a cushion for her back, my highly selective hearing failed to interpret the statement as we had gone past the one mile point of no return marker.
I also got a bit worried as the car is a little bit loud, or as my friend Rory with great affection likes to say "it's comedy loud". Some people in the peace and quiet of the Lakes didn't seem to mind this, maybe the low flying jets regularly passing over Windermere drowned us out. Others, taking in the peace and tranquillity of Hardknott pass did not seem to appreciate the Wedge's dulcet tones quiet so much. Luckily I think Mrs B was too busy taking in the breath taking views to register their disapproval.
So, it was quite a surprise to me when we called in to X Works on the way home, to hear Mrs B answering in the affirmative to Heath's statement "should be more comfortable than the Griff". Although driving to Croatia in a Griff was a bit further for her to endure than the Lake District in a wedge. Planning a trip to Venice in a few years, so that may well be the real tester.
She even told me when we got home that, she is beginning to like the cars looks, we are making progress.
Regards
Nick

I wish i could convince my other half to even get in the car.
She hates it she says it too noisy, smelly and old looking.
I'm even banned from starting it at 05.45 in the morning because it wakes the neighbour's.
But guess what i don't care it's worth the grief due to the smile it puts on my face when i have some fun with the loud pedal. !!!

My wife gave me an altimatum. Her or the Wedge?. I gave her a counter altimatum. Me or her mum?. Funny, she has never mentioned it since, and every time I buy or do anything for the Wedge she tells me how lovely it looks.
Lets face it. Not many women admire the rare qualities of the Wedge. The lovely exhaust and petrol fumes, the tough suspension, getting in and out designed for a contortionist and the frequent roadside recoveries. We love them.

That's interesting she thinks a 1966 GT40 is too modern looking so no complaints about it being old looking. She hates it she says it too noisy, smelly and old looking.

No complaints of exhaust and petrol fumes, but she is used to being in a pre war car which if you can't smell the exhaust and petrol fumes then there is something wrong. No trouble getting in or out, and she is a granny, roadside recovery what's that.....no problems there and I have owned it 3 no 4 months now

I also think a griff is a great looking car and compared to a wedge completly different. I have never had a problem with my better half and my wedge, she has no problem getting in or out and on our trips to wedge fest she has never complained about noise or comfort. Now though my daughter wont let her go in it. Ah ah just love the wedge.
On Sunday i took my wife out for lunch which is about a 15 mile trip as a tester. Anyway after lunch we decided to visit friends about another 30 miles or so away.
After a 130 mile round trip we returned after a very pleasant drive round some great North Wales roads, and the verdict.... "We must do that again sometime as i quite enjoyed it"
