As per the many pointless threads in the lounge, I thought this section needed one too!

Where are you dining (or have dined recently) and what are your top tips?

I ate at Le Manoir a few weeks ago and was most delighted when I was offered a bread roll that was a 'bacon roll'. Mmmmmm

Was at Bills last week and their calamari followed by ribs was good as always. Although the calamari just isn't quite up to the standards of that at The Beechhouse (small chain around here)

Waterside tonight...can't wait!

I've just eaten a Domino's Pizza on my patio. Top tip - never pay full price, there are always discounts to be had.

And even if there are no vouchers, call up and ask! I've saved over 50% in the past with Dozzers that way!

On other business, the lobster is currently cracking. I also can't recommend the lamb or pigeon enough. Oh, and the duck for 2 was awesome too!

No. 'No' is the answer. I am a fellow south Bucks resident and was one who replied to your plea for a limousine to replace the errant Bentley that went AWOL. My offer was more in jest than anger because a wedding needs more than a grubby eight year old X-Type, but t'was ready to be fulfilled if need be.

Hmmm. I couldn't see any of those options on the website so just went for a Texas BBQ with Italian base.

A few nice places in Cornwall a couple of weeks ago.

Lunch at the Porthminster Beach Café in St Ives. Great food and stunning location right on the beach (apparently one of Heston Bluementhal's favourite places).

Anniversary dinner with Mrs M at the Scarlet at Mawgan Porth, also a stunning location. Food was great but I was driving so couldn't follow the wife and have the paired wine flight.

"50OFF50!" works all the time. Have to spend £50 but then you get 50% off.

Last time we were in cornwall we foolishly didn't book the Porthminster. Ended up having to make do with buying the cookbook! Eating tonight at The Crown at Hallow. Benefit is it only takes 5 mins to walk there.

You live near(ish) to me, like The Crown, had the steak on a stone last time, very nice though a bit off having to cook your own dinner wink

Not walking distance for me although quite close but I would need a boat to get across the river.

I genuinely feel like that about steak on stone dishes. Stupid concept IMO

You can blame the Portuguese, think they invented it.

I live on the green in Hallow so know the owners quite well. Always ask for my steak to be cooked in the kitchen. Can't stand cooking my own!!

Just booked Dinner By Heston at the Mandarin. Managed to get a Friday evening booking for mid-August, which seems fairly reasonable.
Never got around to booking 6mths in advance for Fat Duck (I can't plan that far ahead!), so hoping to get a trimmed-down version of the experience here. Has anyone here been?

Would like to go somewhere nice in July (not fussy on date/day) to make up for missing a family birthday (OH's side) through Le Mans, and am currently tossing up between Gavroche (been before) and Ledbury (never been).
It's nice to go somewhere new, but I do rather like LG. Any thoughts?
