Now it's warm and I am not wearing a jacket, carrying stuff is more awkward. This afternoon I had wallet, phone, keys, shades and a letter. I was wearing smart trousers so couldn't put any of it in pockets. It would have been too little to put in a briefcase.

What's the solution? Courier style bag? I've always been anti-man-bag, but I am starting to see the point.

Serious question by the way.

A serious question would be a bag - one that you like.

A big one for when you are carrying loads of stuff. A smaller one for when you are not.

Loads of options and no one will care just buy one that you think looks nice - hundreds of thousands of people wear a rucksack with a suit, so a bloke with a man bag won't even get a second glance.

I prefer the look of messenger bags, but I've tried one. Now I take a small rucksack to work.

This sort of thing:

If you ask your tailor I'm sure he could come up with a nice summer-weight fabric for a suit.

I tend to feel the heat and with only a shirt this afternoon I was too hot. A suit would be too much. I had a meeting with a quite tubby chap mid-afternoon and he was wearing an overcoat. It was about 26 degrees!

No, it needs to be a bag.

One of these

I'm diabetic so need to carry all sorts of paraphernalia.

It saves the pocket check thing all the time as well.

I have a phone case that doubles up as a wallet. It's got room for 3 cards in it. Debit, credit, Drivers Licence. That lives in one pocket, house/car keys in the other. Shades on eyes or head. Job done. Outside of work when out and about, you don't need anything more in today's cashless world.

Man bag = poofter pouch

I've never understood the whole phone case/wallet thing. If you loose your phone then you loose your wallet. You would need to cancel all your cards but have no phone to do so...

Glasses, kindle or paperback, bottle of water?

A backpack is too big and gives you a sweaty back. Man bags are the perfect size. They are extremely useful which is why they are so common and no-one gives you a second look when using one.

I bought this one - for the same reasons as you.

This

Completely basic, not showy and pretty well constructed.

If you're after something a bit more showy what about this

When I'm out and about I don't have any bag, case or wallet and yet have no difficulty getting things done.

I carry my smartphone, it has a small leather case that contains a debit card.

My car key has a little release thing so i can take that with no other keys.

Lots of people I see look like they are going on a Himalayan expedition, I just can't understand the need to carry all that stuff.

I have one for taking my stuff to and from the office.

Also diabetic so everything fits in easily.

That way, car or bike (which has no storage panniers) it's easy.

Got one of these in black. It's fantastic - extra PH points for it being "tactical".

Maxpedition fatboy versipack. Not cheap but it'll last forever.

Similar problem, work in a school and not required to wear suit, however still need to be able to cart personal stuff around everyday

Had one of these laying around at home (from when I had spare time to shoot !!) turns out the bag is perfect as an everyday waterproof and hard wearing bag (also not girly)

Linen sports coat. Linen is the way to go when it gets hot, just don't get white or cream, Go for blue or dark grey.

Rucksack, something simple like a jansport

As for a shoulder bag id go for canvas, some like what mcgyver or india jones done had.

Did you mean to post that in the preppers thread?
