Anyone getting it? Thinking of trading in Doom for it as I fancy something different!

Yup - first big game purchase of the year for me (well, apart from Doom which I didn't really intend on getting straight away but did) - will be going to pick up a copy this weekend. LOVED the original, and the released gameplay clips are looking good so far.

Yup will be.
Loved original Mirrors Edge. Hope this one is more open and a bit longer.

Played the beta (there's another thread about it somewhere), it's on my list of games to play. Only thing that's worse than the original is a big red line on the floor telling you where to go rather than you having to look around the (very pretty) cityscape, maybe the "runner's eye" can be tweaked in options to highlight things red to jump on without the line.

I think I heard on a gameplay video on Playstation Access, that it could be turned off.

Same as the original then; you could turn it on and off in the options.

Well I fired up the original last night to have a blast before getting the new one tomorrow; I lasted about 30 minutes before starting to lose my st at the game for falling off edges or not being able to line up jumps properly - I suddenly remembered my love-hate relationship with the game hehe

Still looking forward to the new one though.

I loved the original.

I'm a bit turned off by the new one being open world. There's no way they can have made the same tight, focused levels of the original in an open world setting.

Started playing it yesterday; only played an hour or so last night but I'm really enjoying it. It feels so much more fluid and easier to control Faith, and the open-world aspect seems to have plenty of well thought out options and runs, whereas in the old one whilst you had choices, they were limited and you had to be a lot more precise with the button combos. Haven't got much into the story yet; the graphics look gorgeous although the voice acting seems a little bit cringey thus far.

looking promising though smile

This was a good thing frown

Have they made it easier?

Yes and no; in the original if you bumped into the scenery or mistimed a jump it completely killed your flow. That still happens in the new game but it is much easier to regain speed and flow again. Plus, with the open world there seems to be so many more routes available; I spent most of last night just running around the city getting used to everything. Need to get back into the story.

I only discovered the original recently. I found out the band CHVRCHES have done the end theme for Catalyst, Warning Call, which I loved, so I looked into the game and found the old game was available on Steam for a tenner, so I bought it and loved it. Not sure I'm willing to shell out 50 quid for Catalyst, though

PC version is £32 on cdkeys.com if that's an option for you.
