My V8V is due a service next month, has anyone got any recent experience with Stratstone in Wilmslow? Everything I've found so far from searching is from years ago, but I know a few people on here have travelled to Works to get services rather than use other Stratstones, which I'm not completely against if necessary.

Their online system quoted me just under £1200 for the service, which seemed a bit high, but it also said it was the 10 year service, which it isn't, so their computer obviously can't add up biggrin

I've had all mine serviced there. I also had them carry out all my mods too. Prices become very reasonable when you build a relationship and negotiate with them. They have never let me down, far from it.

I don't want to reserect the Dealer v Indy debate again but I would try Bridgemill Motors just down the road in Macclesfield. Their servicing is excellent and considerably more reasonable.

"Works" all the way.

If they can do it in a day for you and you've never been there before its great to get down there early and hand your car over. Then peruse the Dailys over a coffee or two surrounded by AM Masterpieces (Vulcan, 177, DB 0-11, DB4 Zagato etc etc) If you've timed it well and David Webb is available allow him to show you around. Ive done a few factory/facility tours but this was my favourite by far.
A wander along Tickford st and over the Tickford bridge in to the small town and you'll find a few quaint cafes for lunch. There's a Costa coffee for your return visit mid afternoon and then you can kill a bit more time in the most serious pedal bike shop ive ever seen.

Back to the showroom for your final walk around the cars you now know very well followed by the sight of your car driving up the service bay for the final time before it appears on the front perfectly parked for your Photo of your car at "Works" and then the spirited drive home in your freshly pampered pride and joy with the "Works" stamp still wet in your service book smile

While enjoying yourself at Works, if a gentleman introduces himself to you as Simon, pretend you have fainted. He is reputedly a master at giving out 'free' coffees, emptying your wallet, and waving as you drive away in a new Aston.

JCT600 and Bridge Mill should be approached too. One with the stamp, one without.

Thanks for the replies - I personally don't have an issue with cars with specialist stamps, there's a fair argument they do a better job, but my car has dealers stamps only so far, and if and when I come to get rid I may well sell it to a dealer (or someone like McGurks) which I'm thinking might be more difficult/worth less with a specialist stamp - maybe I'm wrong?

I have been to Works before, I picked my car up from down that way and had it looked at there, it's a very nice place smile

+1 vote for Bridgemill. These guys originally serviced my first V8V when they were at Stratstone. Later, at Bridge Mill, they did minor things like place the outside temp thermo in a better loaction to not pick up enrine heat and resolved a suspension rattle that had been minor enough for me not to replace the A-arm. A good example of actually getting better service from experienced techs at an indie.

But don't expect free coffee or bacon rolls....

Took my Vanquish to Bridgemill last year. It will be going there again this year!

JCT did ALL my servicing - DB9 and DBS - and they're 80 miles away. Collect and return was part of the price. Fought my corner over paint issues with AM and got it all fixed foc out of warranty.

Bought both cars from Wilmslow and all warranty work undertaken by them. Good service on the whole.

Astons are bought and sold every day with Indy stamps. It doesn't bother me.

If and when I get rid it probably won't be to part ex for something else, it will be to "cash out". I've already got the car I want, I sometimes think about a convertible but I'd rather have a separate car, and while the V12V isn't entirely outside the realms of affordability, the wife would castrate me so that's ruled out biggrin

£800 ish I'd be fine with, if it's pushing £1200 with all the "addons" they put on then that's starting to take the p**s in my mind.

Bought my V12V from Wilmslow and it's had all 6 services with them. Completely agree with the above. For me, they are always top notch.
Ring service dept and ask for Keith. He's always great with my car.
