Hi everyone, I've recently returned to TVR ownership and bought a Cerbera 4.5. Very happy! I have 2 kids aged 8 and 6 so by the letter of the law they both need to be in car seats. I've done lots of searching and reading old Forum posts but haven't come across anything current that recommends a solution, lots of posts but from years ago.

I tried various booster seats at the local Halfords but they all looked like they were balancing on the edge of the seat. Have any of you found a recent solution to this issue? Of course I could run the risk of no seats but would rather not even though I don't expect any seat will do much in the event of an accident, all be it at least the seatbelt will be positioned in the right place. Thanks guys, much appreciated.

When mine were too big for the recaro seats I sat them in the car without a booster and would use a device that pulled the belt away from their necks.

I've just bought a Jane Montecarlo R1 for my 4 year old. It looks quite good on the passenger side rear, but I'm not very convinced by the legroom if it's on the driverside rear as that seat doesn't slide as far forward.

I've still to figure what I can do to accomodate the 18 month old.

As far as seat overhang goes it's not perfect, albeit better looking than some I've seen. I'm pondering whether to go for the official seat bar to counter this issue. Ideally if time and money wasn't an issue I'd look at removing the original rear seats and having something else fited in the space that would allow a couple of child seats to fit properly. If my 205 Gti project wasn't taking up space in my garage this would be a good little winter project.

Have a look at my post on Facebook (Roger Evans in Cerbera Owners and Enthusiasts Group) - I did a photo diary of how to turn mothercare booster seats into Cerb seats. I keep on meaning to upload it here, but difficult to upload photos from iPhone. Here are a couple of links:

If you can't get on Favebook and PM me, I'll send all photos by email.

You've too long legs. biggrin I'm 5 foot 7 and there was lots of room for my kids until they got to be around 10/11.

Wasn't it once mentioned with some booster seats it put the childs head level with a seat belt mount for the front belt? Be worth checking that. I think someone made a cushioned cover for it

I use the Recaro start for my 3.5yr old. There is a base that TVR made/sold that is supposed to be used to level the back seats for all baby seats and boosters.

I need another one for my 2yr old so will simply cut one out of MDF from the original one and trim it in leather/carpet as that is all the original is. I'm happy to make up a cardboard template and post it to you if you want to do the same for the. Booster?

Someone on here definitely made a cushioned cover for the seatbelt bolt

Guys, thanks for all the tips. Looks like I'll be taking a saw to some high street boosters to shorten the depth and then devising a way to cover the seatbelt mounts for dab of oppo situations!

I use the bubblebum inflatable seats

http://www.halfords.com/kids-zone/car-seats/child-...

They hook into the seatbelt on either side to stop it sliding out in the event of a crash and there is a rear strap which holds the seatbelt at the childs shoulder hight as opposed to across their face if they're not high enough.
They also fit into the Cerb seat perfectly.

I used the Safety 1st seat belt adjuster for my 6-9 year old (ages she was when I owned my Cerb) and let her sit in the rear seat without a booster. Didn't like the whole perched on the seat thing. Thought it was much safer she was enconsed in the car
