Disc braked hybrid suggestions

I think I'm after a flat bar hybrid with a rigid frame, hydraulic disc brakes, ability to change tyre sizes and add pannier and mudguards. It'll be used for 90% road and 10% dirt (farm tracks, canal paths etc) for enjoyment and fitness with the potential/comfort to be used for longer trips. Ideal budget is roughly £600.
I've seen the Boardman Hybrid Team been recommended a few times on here:

They are currently £594 until the 20th of June. Is this the best spec I can expect at around this budget that can be bought on the 'high street'?
Will pop in to Halfords in Swansea to have a look at it tomorrow, will also look in Tredz. Is there anything specific in Tredz that I should consider?

Whyte might provide you with everything you like except the capability to change from the size tyres supplied. There's not a lot of clearance.

ETA Sorry, missed the Swansea bit. Nearest store to you would be Cardiff, according to their site. Shame.

Called in to Halfords today, they didn't have the Hybrid Team 
did straddle a Hybrid Team Pro to get a rough feel and it would be the Medium/54 size I would need. Wasn't too impressed with the helpfulness of the staff but I suppose for a Halfords it was acceptable.
Went straight to Tredz and the staff were outstanding, friendly, knowledgeable and professional. Didn't realise that Halfords have bought them out, but nothing is supposed to change. They (Halfords) have alot to learn about selling bikes.
Anyway, they had a Giant Rapid 1 on display (sadly in large) that I really liked the look of and a Fastroad Comax in medium, so I took the Comax out for a test ride around the carpark. OMG! I can now comprehend what all the fuss is about with carbon frames, it was just effortless, so light, but more importantly the bike felt like a perfect fit and it felt more like a quality product than the Boardman Hybrid Pro. Sadly the Fastroad Comax is out of my budget at £1099, the Ali equivalent (Fastroad SLR) at £849 and the Rapid 1 is £799.
I've not bought one yet, but in true PH style I will be blowing the budget and I think my decision boils down to either the Rapid 1 or Fastroad SLR. Decisions decisions.

Lovely. I just bought a LR frameset with the intention building my son something special. Thought I could build it all for maybe £300 to £350 but I've blown £595 so far and I'm yet to buy a chain.Got the frameset for £170 so I'm pleased about that.
Managed to get a nice 15% discount on it so there was less than £100 difference between it and the SLR. I'd be kicking myself if I hadn't gone for it.
