Initiated a lease extension on my flat in sep 2014 and still waiting for conclusion. Price for ext was agreed at just short of 8k and duly paid by myself a year ago (money still with my solicitor), including both mine and freeholders legal costs. It seems that freeholder is having an issue with his bank and the lease ext is not resolved. My solicitor has now mentioned he will contact them one more time, but other than that the only way to proceed is to go through the above tribunal.

I'm still to contact my solicitor(only recieved e mail this evening) but before I do could anyone answer a couple of questions? Will I be responsible (again) for any of the freeholders costs if he needs to be represented? Any idea how much this will set me back? and is it possible they could increase/decrease agreed amount? Thanks for any help in advance.

Not sure they can modify the contract once its been paid and you are waiting on the paperwork... maybe ask this in homes and gardens section too as they might be able to help.

Did you serve a s.42 Notice under the Leasehold Reform, Housing and Urban Redevelopment Act 1993 or is it a voluntary arrangement between you and the landlord?

Given the length of time it's been going on, I'm guessing it's a voluntary extension as you'll have long missed the boat to ask the First-tier Tribunal (Property Chamber) to deal with the current matter. And in any event, it would be the County Court if it was under the Act and had reached the stage where everything was agreed but not formalised.

Have a read of this useful guide: http://www.lease-advice.org/advice-guide/lease-ext...

Feel free to PM me - am happy to answer more questions as I do quite a lot of this work!
