Golf VI 1.4 TSI: Good ol' Italian tune-up
Discussion
My wife's Golf is driven almost exclusively in the city, and only does 2-3000 km per year.
At the annual MOT (this is Belgium) it failed on emissions, values too high, lambda value too high, etc.
I duly made an appointment with VW but decided to add an injector cleaner and give it a damn good thrashing on the motorway, using a gear or two lower than normal driving would foresee, driving it the way an unloved rental car would have been.
Result: it passed the MOT with flying colours today.
Not rocket science of course, but just goes to show that an Italian tune-up certainly has its merits (on a warmed up engine), and that city-driving is not ideal for modern engines, even petrol ones.
