what do we think of this? Mostly state owned company, just unveiled a aircraft to rival the 737. Seems to be all Russian too, right down to the turbofans and the avionics kit.

Hmm - it seems it's a re-launch of what had been intended to be the Yakovlev YAK-242 (and which may very well carry this name if it ever enters service).

It is a big if...

Market share is dominated by Boeing with the 737max and Airbus with A320neo and the China market will be taken with Comac C919 when it starts to fly next year and Bombardier alos have skin in that game. The Russians will try and make this a Russia only aircraft and struggle competing especially with engines and avionics.

Interesting that the article refers to a Russian engine yet the PW1000G was listed for this aircraft some time ago.
