So, after a few years a Cannondale Multisport 1000 CaaD4 something or other on tiny wheels has come back to me. Mates have been using it as I just didn't get on with it in its current format.

I have no use for it, no-one seems to want to buy it. Is converting it to a fixie as simple as it seems? As in strip off xyz leaving your desired ring and cog, adjusting the chain to length? I fancy something stupid....

That wouldn't give you a fixed wheel, but it would be almost a single speed

Fixed needs a fixed rear hub and sprocket and removes the freewheel function

Ah. Yes. Oh well, I live in a (slightly) hilly area anyway... Thanks!

Also that frame appears to have vertical drop out, so the rear wheel won't be adjustable to tension the chain.

You can resolve that issue by either using a half link in the chain or calculating the ideal gear based on length of chainstay but from experience, running a single speed with a narrow chain stretches it quickly.

You can use a singulator to take up the tension in the chain. Pushing up is better than pushing down.
