Now I know the prices have been going a bit wild lately, but surely this is just crazy.

It's a TR7. With a V8 Chevy engine. And some shiny bits. In red. With a hideous, worn, blue interior.

And it's FORTY GRAND. What am I missing?

Looks like someone is confusing money spent with value. I quite like the car though, being an eighties lad. The green car is lovely and good value at that price. I think the TR7/8 styling has aged very well as a covertible, but the hard-top is past hope.

That's ten grand at most, and not my ten grand either. £40'000 buys a lovely 911, 308GT4 or any number of appreciating classics, not a TR7. I don't object to a nice standard 7 either but they'll never be worth more than a cup of cold piss.

I reckon it is an RV8 - its got an SD1 gearbox which makes that more likely.

A mate of mine has a TR7 running a 3.9 V8 with race cams. Sounds incredible. Cost about £4K and I'd say is on a par with that.

A genuine TR8 is not worth that much and in RHD form especially they are super rare.

The Ad states:-
"This Triumph TR7 V8 Roadtser [sic] car has covered a scant 2,804 miles since it's [sic] bare metal rebuild. The previous owner tells us it had 117 miles on the clock when purchased in 2009."

No doubt both of these statements are true, but one of the invoices attached to the ad, and dated 2011, shows a mileage of 60,080.

One of the repair invoices states that wvf999x is a triumph acclaim 1.3 non turbo,not exactly reassuring history file for such an overpriced car.
