That does look lovely and an unusual colour for a 993. Congrats!

also one more question the big red plastic reflector or light sort of thing which run across the back next to the rear light has a milky appearance as if there has been damp inside can it be taken apart and bought up to look nice or will I have to buy a new one ?

Congratulations. Looks lovely. Just a word of advice. You can spend an awful lot of money maintaining a 993. The 5000 pounds spent recently might sound reassuring but it could just be the beginning of an expensive love affair.

Some people have had a bodyshop cut it back and lacquer it but the long-term solution is to buy a new one. It lifts the car. VERY expensive but won't get any cheaper.

You can take it apart, but it is glued/sealed so it isn't easy. And as the boys have said, it's usually the outside has oxidised. Get a machine polisher and have a go, or get a new one.

Your front fogs are also suffering from the same aging - usually high milers or ones that have lived outside.

Personally I'd see how the oily bits perform before I spent loads on lights that passed the MOT.

WTF is that?

Quick answer nope. 993 key is no bigger than a modern motorcycle key.

I have never seen a 993 key like that before, maybe its a US thing?

The rear lights are easy to restore.

2000 grade sandpaper with water. Rub lightly all over. Repeat a few times.
Machine polish with cutting compound until shiny!
Apply a few coats of wax

Sorted!

Hi John
Sure you love the 993, can't beat the feel of an air cooled classic.
But I'm also sure you'll miss the boost from the Gt2..... It's infectious.
Ps. I've still got my Rainforrest Green beast.

All the best.
Al

I've got one of these keys as well for my 1998 Turbo they are pretty big and the casing comes apart pretty easily. I need a new key as mines been glued back together and now has black electrical tape round it.

The smaller remote control fob is better and I believe the alarm board from this key will fit inside.

They are solids like I have. The hollows have flat backed spokes.
