Eurostar Calais
Discussion
Quick question for you regulars. My parents are panicking because after cocking up train times etc we are having to take 2 seep rate trains an hour apart across in the the motorhomes to France. As they don't want to drive to Le Mans on their own is there a car park In the Calais terminal that we can park up in for an hour or so and wait for them until they're in Calais?
Any useful Info / advice would be welcome!
Thanks

I would get on the motorway and head towards le mans on the A16 then pull up in the first services you come to, its not far from the euro tunnel terminal and on the top of a hill so you have some nice views while waiting.

Its worked for my lot in the past.

When you come off the train, there is a petrol station before you get on motorway. Pull up there an buy a coffee might be the simplest.
Not so easy to get back on the (correct) motorway from this station as a lot of car clubs have found out after attempting to re-convine there. Would suggest stopping at he first parking area (Les Deux caps) only about 6km on the A16.Truckosaurus said:
If you all turn up in good time then you will probably be able to get on the same crossing anyway (or at least one sooner than an hour later).
This ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^You can change times/days online FOC, if it's a more expensive ticket they just charge the difference.
Whenever I travel on Eurotunnel it seems to be on a 1st come 1st served basis.
When you check in, they'll prompt you if you wish to go on the next available crossing. If it's a more expensive crossing they'll just charge you the difference, a cheaper crossing won't get you a refund however. If you're late they'll just give you a choice of the next available crossing, again if it's a more expensive crossing time they'll charge you the difference.
It's a great system so I'm never too anal about timings, if I'm going to be a day or two late/early (It's happened more than once) I just phone or change my booking on the website. It's never been a problem. Frankly I don't see the point in paying for the Flexi ticket, when the std one is so good.
I canceled a trip last November, changed the tickets online for this summer. I've just tweaked the days again to suit my trip in July. I reckon you could just keep forwarding tickets adinfinitum you're ready to use them.
If you've booked an economy 5 day crossing you can still change dates/times on line but you still have to retain the max 5 day window. Phone though and they'll change it, to a std ticket, just charging you an upgrade cost.
I love the number plate recognition they use, the automatic check in booth knows who you are as soon as you pull up.

If perchance you do end up on a different crossing just have a contingency plan (like a motorway services)
I would not advise turning up together and hoping to get on the same shuttle. It may work. However, Eurotunnel is heavily booked due to the numbers wanting to use it to cross and go to Le Mans so the chance of you being able to get on the same shuttle may be slim. There is usually an estimated 125,000 Brits at Le Mans and Eurotunnel is very popular.
