Is it possible that the starter of the LS2 is too weak for the LS7?

I would think it would work. If the LS7 is normal compression.

There is an uprated high torque starter. Not sure if Ultima use it as standard now.

It is important that the bendix on the starter has the correct number of cogs for the flywheel you have.

Hope that helps.

Unless I missed the boat the starter is a Porsche unit. Has something changed on that front. The answer to the original question is based on the performance of the high torque starter that's installed in my car with a very built LS motor starters are not an issue. If you have problems starting the car, even hot, like a 5 minute shut down in 115 degrees weather and then a restart, look elsewhere. Lee
