Unsure if it`s correct or not but I have heard that the security checks going through customs at Dover are very tight due to the football fans travelling to France for the Euros. I have heard its up to 2 hours to get through customs. I`m sailing Thursday morning and leaving home earlier than planned because of this ,can anyone travelling earlier confirm if this is correct or not ?

Thanks.

DFDS are saying the French are making 100% checks of passports. The French checks are made on this side of the water. Coming back we check on their side.

If this was the case P and O ferries would have to either put a message on their website or notify all travellers as the knock on delay would cause huge back logs. I got an email saying roadworks on a20 but no mention of 2hr delays at check in. Where did you hear that?

I have a mate who works at border control, and he has mentioned nothing.

We are on the 09:25 tomorrow, and leaving Ashford (Kent) at 08:00 under his instructions.... I doubt there are issues as I would have definitely heard something!

I have been getting lots of repeated emails from Eurotunnel to complete my API. Which has now been done.
I am hoping this will assist our journey time. We'll see tomorrow night.

I use Eurotunnel quite frequently every year, this year they have been a lot more persistent in trying to get the API before we go. In previous years I never bothered, but did it this year to stop the annoying emails pretty much coming in every day.

P&O were reporting Monday morning check-in delays, with an accompanying traffic photo, on their Twitter account (@POferriesupdate).
However, their current status ("Latest check-in time for cars is 30 mins; for footpassengers 60 mins before your booked sailing time.") suggests that it's business as usual today. We always aim to leave an hour for check-in and passports, which seems fairly sensible.
