A visit to Ford's Heritage Workshop

Long time no post! I was lucky enough to get along to Ford's Heritage Workshop recently, the Dagenham facility where 115+ of Ford's fleet of press cars is kept and maintained. I documented my visit on my blog, thought some of you guys might appreciate it:

Great photos, I'm jealous! I was surprised to see the Mondeos missing the duct tape on the bumpers, I thought they all have them from the factory!!

Thanks Paul, haha - if I were to have captioned these photos then I'd have said the same thing as you on the bumpers quite scary to think just how many Mondeos must be in scrap yards right now..

Great photos, thanks for sharing them. While I really like the high-end stuff, there's something pleasing about the more mundane models they have preserved - can't be many Fiesta Populars left in that condition! Love the ST200 as well.

Thanks all, I was also curious about the 4wd Capri but didn't get time to investigate it, perhaps someone on here will know more.

Know what you're saying Swooshiain, there's something amazing about the more mundane vehicles in the collection although I'm not quite won over by the silver Mondeo yet, give it another five years

I seem to recall them being trialled by the police along with some FF Zodiac's

If my anorak memory is up to scratch, the 4x4 Capris were developed for televised motor cross on about 69/70. Driven by, among others, Roger Clark. I have read about that car somewhere, but I seem to be loosing the ability to recall all the car related facts I have ever known in my old age.

Nice! How "real" was the modern racing Ford GT, or was it a show car? I´m surprised if they can spare a car at the moment with Le Mans this weekend, and having destroyed one at Spa recently...

The GT car was very much real, appeared to be complete bar certain bits of its interior (hence no shots in there)
