A specification I'm working on has requested if a 140mm thick blockwork wall with the compressive strength of 10M/mm2 would meet a requirement of a minimum density of 1300kg/m3?
This has foxed me two fold;
1. shouldn't compressive strength be measured as N/mm2?
and
2. in this instance, is it safe to assume that compressive strength has no correlation to the density of the wall?

Compressive strength is generally measured in MPa - 10MPa being quite common in construction.
IIRC Density of 1300 kgm3 is lightweight block & should have no direct bearing to compressive strength. Density is typically used to manage weight on supporting structure. If this is an issue then absorption needs to be taken into account.
