Some are supplied and sent out by amazon (usually next day with prime). Others are third party suppliers that Amazon just 'brokers'. These can take weeks or even months and can come from all over the world. You need to check out when you buy when they suggest it will be delivered.

Buy it in the shop and cancel the amazon order.

Once it's been dispatched, it can't be cancelled, only returned.

Why?

Serious question.

I was just very much under the impression people had either moved to online options or were still on piracy. I just see no value in a DVD box, I can only see downsides to it.

I still buy DVDs.

As they are tax deductible, and about 75% of them are not immediately accessible online. Even if they are, I often have to pay for them (again).

Oh, and I've never pirated a movie, and shame on those that do!

You're pretty limited if you live in the country and your internet download speed is 1.5Mbps! Streaming HD isn't really an option.

Fair enough. A lot of DVD / Bluray these days also include a downloadable version, but I actually like having a DVD collection!
